Thinking as part of living being is in all the birds and animals, even the one-cell amoeba is part of it. As already narrated, a newly-born baby enters the world crying on leaving a natural, conditioned environment (mother’s womb) with standardized facilities. When he gets breast milk in a cozy place, and enjoys a sound sleep, he expresses with a smile when talked to with a smiling face. It is important to note that a mentally healthy child’s life starts happily, then why does he get stuck in mental strains and abnormalities? Actually, an innocent child’s mental process is polluted with confused goals, irrational belief system, extreme values, and anxiety-inducing experiences leading to fears of self-survival. As already analyzed on the subject of, “LIFE IS A NONSTOP PROCESS OF CHANGE (inside or outside), along the series of articles on Art of Word Selection, Effective Communication, Feedback etc., it is further added with clinical data that the variant challenges and complications start just on entering of an innocent infant in the environmental variables. It is a natural phenomenon that the organ of body which is excessively used becomes powerful and dominant. Therefore, biologically and psychologically human genes are refined over generations in the brain due to its constant application to handle the crisis of life under self-survival whereas the other body organs have reduced in length or strength over the period of time. Life starts with need fulfilment and demands as a reinforcement. So, the natural thinking process is fixed by the self-concept as in computer programing. If the data is over-loaded and used nonstop, the computer goes out of control, as with a virus. During dealings in life, a person assesses and makes decisions according to his self-concept. As a result of it, he evaluates himself as plus or minus and remains involved in multiplying processes of behavior evaluation as right or wrong in the set social standard. Every living being is born with feelings and thinking skills. Human being as a distinctive rational being and deputy (Naib) is given rational kills and freedom of choice within own self to make decisions and act with free will. It is reminded to mankind in Surah Al-Alaq V-96: 1-8,” Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], Has taught man that which he knew not. Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). Because he considers himself self-sufficient. Surely! Unto your Lord is the return.” A natural thinking process can be discriminated between Non-creative thinking (fantasies) and Creative (Meaningful) thinking. Healthy thinking is always purposeful in nature. The creative thinking is mostly based on the four stages like preparation, data collection, incubation/inspiration, and verification. In this respect, a logical thinker applies observations, feelings, and realistic goals according to age and learning to draw productive conclusions according to individual capacity. The feedback system assists in adjusting goals for productive results, whereas merely philosophical thinking is without action or confirmation of results. Therefore, goal-directed and planned realistic thinking leads to creativity, mental satisfaction, and self-respect. In order to avoid confusion and complications in thinking process, primarily a student of psychology is trained to learns the steps to complete a project in the Rational Decision-Making Model. In this process, first he defines the problem, then he identifies the decision criteria, thirdly he allocates weight to the criteria, then develops the alternatives after evaluation and lastly, he selects the best alternatives before acting out to achieve his target in a project. At higher thinking processes, students are trained through research projects, internships, etc. The higher stages of thinking are enlightened when a person adapts the advance stages of creativity like a scientific strategy. The creativity process is based on the three Components of creativity which an individual applies to produce novel and useful ideas. In this regard, the three-component model of creativity is dependent on an individual’s expertise, creative thinking skills and intrinsic task motivation. As an important tool to achievement in this world, it is based on the role of motivation level of distinction in Human beings. This organizational skill is based on the development process of a child’s grooming that how he induces his individual drives, role models in social set-up, social conditioning, built-in reinforcement system, discipline training based on the application of behavior modification, reward or punishment system (Continuous, Time, Interval, Fixed, Intermittent and Ratio of Reward or Punishment). So, in this respect, the art of using the intellectual energy within a person is guided by the direction given to an innocent child. In fact, each individual develops his own inner mechanism of self-appreciation or rejection criteria to meet goals of his life through a thinking process. In short, the nature of thinking, application of reasoning tools and achievement level through motivation tools are all dependent on the grooming, educational and personality development practices by the parents and significant others of an individual. In the present day, families do not properly pay attention to babies who are genetically more sensitive and sharper but become secluded by baby-sitting or TV exposure. Labelling, being ignored and rejected, lonesomeness, insecurity, no appreciation, etc., makes them self-critical, helpless, self-protective, worrying, over-concerned of others’ approval and being misfits, aggressive, anxious, bored, incompetent, dependent and subject to trouble.
DEMARCATION BETWEEN NATURAL, ABNORMAL & CREATIVE THINKING Clinically, each mental process is a component of knowing, feeling, and thinking. So, an individual’s balanced personality is based on the component of cogitation, affection, and conation. If they are integrative, meaningful and balanced, that person takes an action. The speed of thinking and feelings is dependent on God-gifted I.Q., bio-chemical system and physique (normal/handicapped), social environment and reinforcers in a family. A controlled or uncontrolled thinking pattern emerges over the level of physical and psychological needs provided to a person as gender, class, status, family make-up and individual concerns. This habit pattern is set in the early life experience and significant other worrying models The criteria of Islamic thinking are based on the pillars of yashadoona, yaqaloon, yatadabaroona, yatafaqroon, etc.
