Glimpses of Human Nature and Islamic Guidance for Peace

Preface

The quest of knowledge or necessity is the mother of all inventions; Adam was shaped by the Creator as a knowledgeable selected Naib (deputy) among all the creatures like the jinn and angels. The craze for domination and possession helped Iblis corrupt the blessed and breathed Ruh, which resulted in Adam’s removal from paradise to this earth. Since that time, man is struggling for his survival along with his quest to find a similar paradise on this earth. So, the current unique discoveries and wonders of IT services for a mankind have developed the concept of paradise on earth.

Each individual’s computer has its own capacity, potential or space as manufactured by its company. In the same way, each person’s Ruh is granted with specific potentials, insight or capacity to function like a prophet, musician, scientist, businessman, etc., with skills given at birth by the Creator. Ruh (inner-self), like a computer’s functioning through electricity, is invisible and connected with the main server (Allah), records, gets virus by over-using its capacity, and runs out of order in constant applications. So, instead of paying attention to screen cleaning, one should remove the virus and instead of spending money on facial beauty, work and clean the inner, crippled Ruh (self). So, no one should go beyond the given scope in life. Those who misuse or adopt extreme means, their psyche (Ruh) system is corrupted and derailed. The last part of Surah Al-Annam (6) narrates this phenomenon about blessings of the Lord to the Naib (Adam’s generation). The history of great nations who became arrogant and were derailed is repeated in the incident in Surah Al-Aarf (7). So, in this way insight is provided to a common man about the consequences for acting against the orders of the Creator and following his eternal enemy, the arrogant Shaitan (Satan).

Although man has derailed to worldly pleasure to such an extent that he has forgotten like Adam the purpose of his creation to thank for the provisions of his Creator by following the versions delivered by His messangers, I confess that how much I am thankful to get insight about the miracles of nature, facts generated about human nature, creation and running of universal system by the Almighty power through scientific tools of observation and rational evaluation. Not only the present, rather the past since origin of universe as well as the future accountability process on Day of Judgment is described in visual pictures for the awareness of mankind to be alert about their deeds done in a life-span.

I spent about forty years in studying, teaching, researching and practicing as a student of psychotherapy but now realized that human-found knowledge is subjective and needs further research to complete its definition. Although APA and great intellectuals have made tremendous efforts to set the parameter of human psychology objectively, still they could not figure out the power (Ruh) behind human behavior and mental functioning as when it leaves the body, no one can stop the turning of a living into a helpless corpse. Therefore, the century and a half scientific claims about himself are a self-based subjective human knowledge unlike the clinical human aspects narrated in the Qur’an by the Almighty Creator who has demarcated that He knows better about his creature and universal system as the whole cannot be equated with its semi-parts.

It was the application of the Qur’anic verdicts in Arab tribal life which united the wild Arabs into a civilized nation and a model for the followers. Unfortunately, in the current world affairs when they turned down those golden rules, they have regressed to tribal states that are fighting against each other and disgracing the cause of Islam in the world.

Islam has been misused by the opportunists and business-oriented Mullahs/Imam among the ignorant masses who instead of practicing obligatory duties with monotheism, are more tuned to rituals, processions and exhibitionism in religious affairs which are not supported in Islam. The Qur’an is a holy book based on golden rules to apply in all the life affairs. It states that human being should follow this book and apply laws of observation (yashadoona), reasoning (yaqaloon) with an adequate perception and comprehend objectively (yatadabaroona) to understand the concept (Yalamoon) before responding (yafaloona) to a situation and it is better to forgive (yaghfaroona) others for creating a positive change in the aggressive people. A truth-seeker always takes the message with reason and confirms the facts by observation, strictly practicing in life with ease and pleasure and does not waste time and energy in unnecessary debating; just memorizing theories without acting on them is just like piling books loaded on the back of a donkey posing as a religious scholar. Such scholars were identified to correct the Muslims in practices of Islam.

It is worth consideration for the present-day western-oriented psychotherapists that the process of peace, progress, prosperity and perfection lies within a person’s balanced self. It is not memorizing or replacing a given faith system, rather it means to connect within his fighting Ruh (psyche/spirit). The psychologist and intellectuals of behaviorism have principles of behavior modification based on reinforcement in time and space, in which immediate or delayed reinforcements have variant effects on shaping a personality. Clinically delayed reinforcement has slow or low impact rather than an immediate one. So is the concept of accountability process based on life-deeds on the Day of Judgment, which most of them do not believe. If one takes the Divine knowledge rationally without predisposition, it is easy to comprehend it as a warning to mankind by his Immortal Creator.

To keep a balance between instinctive needs and humanistic feelings, religion turns out to be as human psychological necessity for a peaceful and meaningful life. The importance of Divine direction is needed in a mechanical-oriented world for people who believe in religion as mechanical practices without involvement in its true spirit.

I have tried to answer all the relevant queries and objections of various sects of religion and atheists. Moreover, I have challenged the western-oriented psychologists and sociologists, and provided food for thought to the truth seekers with references of the Qur’an. Unlike catastrophes, a psycho-social crisis maintains its hidden solution. In this regard, the feedback is a milestone from failure toward a final destination. So, goal-directed activity with effective communication over feedback is the sole solution to a problem.

I did seven years of research to find out the focal power of life and presented logical data for the psychologist and truth-seekers to examine the Ruh (human basis) objectively without any prejudgment. In fact, life is a non-stop process of change. Some of the burning psychosocial topics are misunderstood by the modern liberal world: the topics of sex, love or idealism in reference to religion and cultural priorities, gender discrimination, birth order, family make-up and breeding practices have generated clinical-social issues which need clarification and rational approach to come out from such man-made crises. Various solutions to resolve a wandering, sick Ruh are presented. Peace along with reasoning was revealed centuries ego in Abrahimic religions to handle extremity, aggression, and exhibitionism in human affairs by strictly following the monotheistic authority. As Ruh as an invisible current is commanding the world authority through the body, people give undue importance to the apparent body or behavior without touching its basis.

Therefore, an important role of a psychologist, psychotherapist or clinician in current human services is to explore the Ruh. A keen clinician needs to provide constant feedback with correction, eye-contact and sharp observation to touch the mental frequency level of the client. So, this profession demands strong nerves, devotion, patience and tolerance to resolve the corrupted, over-whelmed and confused Ruh under social-emotional trauma.

I found that Islamic mental health principles based on human nature (Ruh) revealed 1,440 years ago with the continuity of previous holy books by the Creator in the Qur’an stress that there is no compromise on monotheism or its practices in any form. Islam teaches monotheism, correction of intentions and application of moral-ethical practices to save from anxiety, frustrations or mental health issues (Ruh) which over-rule the environment.

Islamic theology is based on the principles of positive thinking and humanistic values. Self peace is hidden within self-contentment. Moreover, the peace parameter is within a person. It depends on perceiving, feeling and thinking about his own-self as well as the concerned world around him. No doubt, patience over provisions with insight institute contentment within a person’s self (ME). This religion teaches the truth of life is in balanced social unity and peace in sharing the common feelings of Adam’s generation which is lost in self-recognition and acts like a bewildered animal without knowing that he is mortal and even does learn from those dying around him. The nature of mankind is elaborated for human guidance in the Qur’an about his built-in weaknesses and guidelines are provided with historical data to follow the balanced, straight path to have peace and prosperity in life. V-6:59-65 & 95-99 present a focal point to have feedback for self-correction since a naib (deputy) has been blessed with that knowledge which no other creature has in this universe, but under temptation he lost senses and ended in departing from paradise as punishment

I have tried to present the glimpses of human nature to create psychological innovation in the present-day fellow human beings. I hope my efforts will be taken with logical tools to comprehend the Divine insight to balance in current capitalist flow to gain and control within the shortest time but still feeling inner emptiness, seeking for peace but ending with nothing despite all labors.

A Forewarning to Mankind

“The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, and then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance. And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity. Those who, when they are reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat. And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun" Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect.”

“He, it is Who has created you (Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah [mixed semen drops of male and female discharge (i.e. Adam's offspring)] then from a clot (a piece of coagulated blood), then brings you forth as children, then (makes you grow) to reach the age of full strength, and afterwards to be old (men and women), though some among you die before, and that you reach an appointed term, in order that you may understand. He it is Who gives life and causes death. And when He decides upon a thing He says to it only: "Be!" and it is.” (V-40:67-68)
