In fact, success or failure, in the Islamic sense, is in how you conduct yourself during the process. God stated that among all the creatures, He created man by His own self and gave him life with distinctive knowledge, then asked the angels and Satan to bow to the great dignity of man, so man has been told to explore and understand the world with the application of knowledge. Therefore, on the basis of knowledge, mankind is given priority among each other, and through this skill given insight to understand each other. Unfortunately, man does not care for his self-respect and became dependent on idols, natural objects and animals to meet his needs and forgot the Creator of his life and the whole universe. Man is reminded to realize his self-worth and unique qualities over all living beings and to create a direct mental link with God for safety, support and guidance under strains and hard time instead of dragging himself to shrines, animals, idols and sculptures, and following irrational beliefs with superstitions, tricked by selfish saints, quakes and self-claimed authorities for Divine sanction.
Although like other creatures, mankind has instinctive needs, Islam has presented logic to satisfy these needs within a set system without harming the feelings and rights of others. So, social and religious training is provided with reason to channel the id impulses through fasting, physical activities and deep involvement in religious practice and carrying out these needs in a programmed manner. Sex, which is the most important and aggressive instinct with complicated rededications, is regulated with arranged marriages at the age of maturity with the understanding of the pair in a colorful public ceremonial act. Therefore, a social structure is established to satisfy natural urges with penalizing laws to handle premarital and extramarital activities, exhibitionism, rape, adultery, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, prostitution, other sex-related crimes, diseases or misuse of power to gain benefit due to the age or circumstances of the innocent victim.
Qur’an resolves unnecessary human fears of God’s punishment of sins and resolves obsessive-compulsive negative thoughts for perfectionism in religious practices. It reveals that God is the most generous in forgiveness to his creatures and will judge deeds based on the individual capacity and devotion to follow His orders. Only God is perfect and human beings have been created with individual limits, but His door for forgiveness is always open as man, by nature, will commit certain aggressive acts. He is there to provide peace to worried believer that perfectionism in good deeds like an angel is unachievable. Therefore, God has selected prophets and pious individuals to relay His message, and people will be judged according to their capacity and engagement of the messages and religious model exposed to them. In short, everybody’s deeds with devotion to perform, the fear of punishment and belief in the great gift of God’s forgiveness are the sole principle of accountability on the Day of Judgment. Effort is counted, but reward will be granted as a person intended to perform an act in life. Verses indicates that a God-fearing Muslim actively practicing the laws of Qur’an, need not worry, and have a firm trust that he will be forgiven by the great merciful Authority.
Islam strictly urges the followers to follow the moderate line of action in life. It discourages extremism and provides peace and protection to mankind with positive picture of this life and afterwards by directing mankind to complete obligatory duties, regular worship and enjoy the remaining time in pursuit of business and daily activities as a normal routine. It neither promotes a recluse’s life nor blind following of worldly gains without sense of duties to the Creator and rights of human beings. There is no compulsion to fight against the non-believers if they live peacefully in the Muslims’ community by paying the state taxes and following the civil laws of the state. Islam does not force a person to embrace Islam but the people should be invited for Muslim cause through appealing self-models and human respect.
It is quoted in the Qur’an that each person’s deeds will be assessed according his potential, labor and intentions which God as a Creator knows better than humans. Sometimes, human beings in the zeal of perfection and irregular cultural practices harm their individual capacity by rigorously praying and contributing whatever they posses to get closest to Allah’s approval, which leads to abnormalities, obsessions, compulsive behavior, hysteria, insomnia, confused state of mind, psych-somatic ailments, poverty, family problems, and living at the mercy of others due to inability to handle their normal mental or physical life. This is similar to holding a 50 pound weight when that person may hardly hold 15 pound: such an abnormal practice will make him unable to even hold the 15 pound weight as his nerves will be shattered for normal tasks. Extreme unusual and abnormal activities are practiced in religions other then Islam which have no concept of God as merciful, forgiver and blessing mankind for following His command as the only one God in the universe. The Qur’an directs Muslims to regular practices with sincere intentions and, in any act, to feel that his God is watching him and he needs blessings from Him. God repeatedly calls and offers His forgiveness and blessings to correctly follow a pattern of life. It is quoted that man is cruel to himself and involved in extremist behavior but He is not cruel to man, so he should follow the moderate line of actions in religious duties and worldly affairs with the hope of His blessings in this world and hereafter on the Day of Judgment. Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers used to follow the Qur’anic guidelines and obligations of Islam but were also fully involved in all regular worldly activities like commerce, employment, professions and earning livelihood for their families.
There is no punishment over uncontrolled dirty, negative or abnormal thoughts as only consciously done actions are recorded for good or bad deeds of a person. Therefore, it is advised to not fight with such thoughts as Satan wants to keep man involved in such practices to the extent that a person loses self-control or energy to perform regular simple religious activities. Islam discourages self-criticism with the desire to be perfect and discourages self-judgment. In perfectionism and obsessed behavior, a person keeps involved in the procedure of a self-set criteria (ritual) of good deeds (cleanliness and woozo before praying), without performing the actual action to which he was directed as an obligatory duty (prayer). In the Qur’an, man is advised to just follow the fixed Islamic criteria within his personal capacity and skills because his actions will be judged on his intentions on the Day of Judgment.
As discussed earlier, Islam teaches kindness and humility in daily human interactions. It is against rudeness, boasting, and praying only to impress others by projecting one’s self as pious and God-fearing. In Islamic practices, the keys to approval of God and His blessings are the intentions, fear of God and desire to be approved by His blessings. Although God had blessed His Prophet in his lifetime, he used day and night in preaching and prayers for the forgiveness and blessings of God.
In the practices of Islam, sincerity, devotion, truth and discipline are given the top priority to create trust, love and deep understanding among the Muslims. Hypocrisy is considered the worst act in mankind which not only creates confusion, enmity, and revengeful thoughts and activities; it also spoils the unity and certainty among the community for a reciprocal bond. It is also forbidden to commit backbiting and false statements just for fun or disgracing other human beings. Qur’an has strict penalties for these acts in Islamic set-up and worst punishments in hell after death. It is quoted that what you talked about the person behind his back is just your assumptions and speculations: he may be better than you as God is aware of the intentions and actions which he does in public or private. It is advised that a person should remain humble, patient and submissive in prayers and human relationships. The instances of previous arrogant kefirs and rebellious nations which were destroyed for their aggressive stand against God and the followers of prophets, are given as an analogy to be careful that the human nature to become proud and aristocratic (like Satan) when prosperous, powerful, and healthy, pushes him to the worst station in hell and the curse of God during the lifetime. So, keep on praying, contributing to the needy and be fearful of the Day of Judgment when everyone will be asked what and how you gained, where and when you spent, and ultimately what you have brought for being awarded on this day when no one will support you except your good deeds, humble prayers and sincere attempts of contributing to the welfare of those looking for help in your society.
Mostly capitalists, industrialists and businessmen are scared of losing their gained wealth and capital. They are over-conscious in spending, worry about the future and fear loss, so they become reluctant to share with the needy people. Allah reveals that provisions of needs are written, so one should not worry in its spending, V-11:6. Some of them become anxious to such an extent that they develop insomnia, gastric ulcers, hypertension, migraines and other psychosomatic ailments and anxiety disorders. Whenever religious reformers and prophets came to guide them, they avoided them and remained trapped in worldly attractions, whereas the poor, deprived and working class rushed to the call for preventing mental sufferings by following the humanity bond for a balanced contented life through moderate ways, V-25:6-10," Say: "It (this Qur'an) has been sent down by Him (Allah) (the Real Lord of the heavens and earth) Who knows the secret of the heavens and the earth. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." And they say: "Why does this Messenger (Muhammad) eat food, and walk about in the markets (like ourselves). Why is not an angel sent down to him to be a warner with him? "Or (why) has not a treasure been granted to him, or why has he not a garden whereof he may eat?" And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) say: "You follow none but a man bewitched." See how they coin similitudes for you, so they have gone astray, and they cannot find a (Right) Path. Blessed be He Who, if He will, will assign you better than (all) that, - Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) and will assign you palaces (i.e. in Paradise)."
